Avoiding Hooligan Acts at the World Cup

England fans are now facing an alcohol ban the day before any 2018 World Cup game in Moscow. This is to ensure that there are no repeats of ugly scenes like what happened in France 2016. Russian hooligans were found to have objects including mixed martial arts gloves and gum shields on them, while England supporters were heavily criticized for their behavior that was largely fueled by alcohol. Alcohol is also something that plays a big role in big games in America as well. For example, Packer games in Green Bay are largely affected by alcohol and it is something that the security guards take seriously. Once someone starts to get rowdy, they will get escorted out of the game. However, much more violent acts are becoming a problem at these events in England. In total, 12 matches will be affected at the World Cup by the restriction. Do you think this will affect future ticket sales?

  1. These restrictions do make people a little unhappy about it but they are also there for everyone's safety. I honestly don't think these restriction would affect future ticket sales because people should be going to the game because they want to see the sport being played. But majority of people will still go to the games, even with the restrictions.

  2. This is scary to me! Crazy to think that people get this crazy over sports. It sure is nice to hear that there are measures being taken to stop this sort of thing. I also think that this sort of thing can be bad for business because people might see this and say, man I really don't want to travel there.

  3. Safety is the #1 priority, so if they feel the policy is necessary, I support it. However, I do think it is highly likely that people will attempt to find away around it or cheat the system. People love to drink and in general, think they can get away with anything, so I don't think it will dissuade many people from buying tickets.
